A brief history and overview of Newark Valley:

Newark Valley was founded in 1791 by migrants from New England. Throughout most of the time since it's settlement, Newark Valley (NV) has relied almost exclusively on its agricultural roots to pull it through the economy, though after World War II, more people have used the town as a bedroom community so they could commute to other towns to work. When settled, settlers used the trees scattered in the hills of the 53 square mile town to build many of the buildings that stand today. These buildings remain intact and are historical icons in the community. As time has progressed, the architecture in the village has, also. Buildings are now based upon a manufactured standpoint, diminishing the uniqueness of the town.
